FlameOFF Fire Retardant Spray is a clear liquid that may be sprayed on with a simple spray applicator.
Primarily used on fabrics that need to meet NFPA 701 flammability fire rating but can also be used on paper, carpet and other similar materials.
Our fabric spray should be applied until the surface is wet to the touch and sprayed evenly across the entire surface and all edges. If applied in building requiring an inspection then an NFPA 701 label must be applied on all curtains and items protected for the inspector.
Call (888) 816-7468 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
All surfaces must be primed and be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, loose mil scale, dirt, dust or other materials that would impair the bonding of FlameOFF paint to the substrate.
Primer must be applied to the steel substrate.
The applied thickness of FlameOFF paint will depend on the size / shape of the substrate. The detail design will show the required thickness of each member. Contact FlameOFF Coatings, Inc. for a detail design guide.
Mixer: use 1/2" electric or air driven drill with a slotted paddle mixer (300 rpm under load).
Mixing: FlameOFF must be mixed using a 1/2" electric air driven drill with a slotted paddle or Jiffy mixer blade. Mix material for a minimum of 5 minutes to achieve the necessary texture required before spraying.
Thinning: do not thin.
Use 1.0 gal. per minute electric airless (minimum)to provide an operating pressure of 2,000 p.s.i. (320kg/cm2). Remove rock catcher from siphon tube.
Contractor Gun (with filter removed) or equivalent.
Spray Tips: 0.019" - 0.029".
Fan Size: 4"-10" (depending on section being sprayed).
Hose Length: 50' (45 m) minimum.
Material Hose: 1/2" I.D.
Cleanup: Pump, Gun, Tips and Hoses and mixer should be cleaned at least once per day.
Safety: follow all safety precautions on the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Overspray: all adjacent and finished surfaces shall be protected from damage and overspray.
Product may be applied by brush or spray application. Do not Roll. Spray application is recommended for the optimum appearance.
A single coat built up with a number of quick passes allows greater control over quantities, thickness and finish.
Note: in most conditions, it is advantageous to apply two thin coats rather than one thick coat.
Spray: 45 mils (1.14 mm) per coat (wet).
Brush: 10 mils (0.25 mm) per coat (wet).
7 hour recoat time - see Application Guide.
Frequent thickness measurements with a wet film gauge are recommended during the application process to ensure uniform thickness.
Final thickness must be measured using an electronic dry film thickness gauge. For method of thickness determination and tolerances refer to:
Minimum: 45 Degrees Fahrenhiet.
Maximum: 105 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Do not apply when humidity is greater than 95%.
Shelf Life: 8 months when kept at recommended storage conditions and in original unopened containers.
Shipping Weight: 12 lbs. per gallon.
Flash Point (setaflash): 86°F (30°C).
Storage: store indoors in a dry environment between 32°F - 105°F (0°C - 40°C).
Packaging: 5 gallons.
