FlameOFF® Coatings, Inc. provides intumescent fire protection that exceeds many ASTM E119 listing standards. Our intumescent products and operations are audited and listed by a certified third party lab to ensure that our intumescent products perform as expected to insure building fire safety.
ASTM E84 is a standard test method for surface burning characteristics of building materials.
FlameOFF® Fire Barrier Paint is E84 certified and for all plenum space combustible materials. Combustible materials are those that readily ignite and burn. Many common construction materials are combustible, including wood and wood-plastic composite and plastic products.
The E84 flame spread rating of a material is determined by subjecting material placed in a horizontal tunnel to a gas flame. A combustible material will be rated as Class A, Class B, or Class C based on its performance in this test.
Class | Flame Spread | Smoke Index |
---|---|---|
A | 0 – 25 | 0 - 450 |
B | 26 – 75 | 0 – 450 |
C | 76 – 200 | 0 – 450 |
ASTM E2768 is the extended version of the E84 test. Aims to measure surface burning characteristics of building materials when exposed to flame for 30 minutes. This test operates similar to E84 but for a longer duration of time.
The E2768 flame spread rating is determined by the same guidelines used for the E84 standard, reference the table in the above section for more information.
ASTM E119 are standard test methods for fire tests of building construction and materials.
FlameOFF® Fire Barrier Paint is 3rd party listed with ICC-ES and UL Classified for ASTM E119 for 1 and 2 hours over multiple substrates.
